Solve the Mystery of Your Family History

Home > Technical Support > Printing in Color

By default, Family Tree Detective does not print in color. You need to specify color each time you print a tree or report.

Suppose you want to print a Family tree in color.

  1. Click on the Index button.

  2. Select the person whose tree you want to print, and then click OK.

  3. Now, click on the Family Tree icon.

  4. Customize the tree according to your preferences: specify the box and border styles, fonts, and number of generations.

  5. From the File menu, select Print.

Family Tree Detective displays the Print Family Tree dialog box.

  6. Click the Print Color check box to put a check mark in it.

  7. Click OK to generate the tree.

If you're still having problems printing in color, it could be related to your Windows printer settings. To check your printer settings:

  1. Click the Start button, select Settings, and then Printers.

  2. Click once on your printer icon to select it, and then from the File menu, select Properties.

  3. Click the tabs at the top of this dialog box to reveal more printer settings. Double-check all settings. Make sure there isn't anything that might prevent color printouts. (The options vary from one printer to another.)
If problems persist, contact the manufacturer or refer to your printer documentation. Many printer manufacturers provide contact and technical support information on the Internet.
